"Not in the line of duty": Impact of Army Death Investigations

Below is an interesting article that illustrates the impact of a finding of "not in the line of duty" from a death investigation. Many benefits are not given to the family. For this spouse and her children, that meant an estimated $1,200 a month from the Army's Survivor Benefit Plan; GI Bill benefits; and possibly money from the Department of Veterans Affairs. She could be able to get all of the benefits retroactively.
